The best Oat Milk Hot Chocolate recipe that will instantly lift up your mood! This easy vegan & dairy-free hot chocolate is the perfect sweet treat and drink to celebrate the holiday season! It’s creamy, perfectly sweet, with just the right amount of cocoa to keep it intense and rich-tasting.

Is there anything better than a cup of hot cocoa on a cold, winter cold day? Hot chocolate is the key to our cold days! This recipe is so nostalgic for me! It’s a memory from my own childhood. My mom or my sister would always make hot chocolate to warm us up after being out in the snow for hours (at least when the snow was out there during winter ).

Oat Milk Hot Chocolate

This healthier recipe will definitely blow your tastebuds away! If you’re planning to make this recipe during a girls-night or nightcap, I suggest adding a shot of amaretto or baileys.

What I truly love about the recipe is all the topping! Feel free to top this hot chocolate with marshmallows, whipped cream, or cacao! Best of all, homemade hot chocolate is a treat that only requires a few ingredients to create a drink worth sipping again and again. A warm creamy cup of hot chocolate is one of my favorite treats of the holiday season!

Ingredients

I started myself on a little quest to make a really good and creamy HEALTHY hot chocolate that I could sip on while I binge-watch all the Christmas movies. This healthy hot chocolate recipe only requires five simple ingredients:

  • Oat milk: I like to use unsweetened oat milk or my homemade oat milk!
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder: a high-quality unsweetened cocoa powder is essential.
  • Maple syrup: I love how delicious the maple syrup tastes in this recipe, plus it’s a natural sweetener. Perfection!
  • Vanilla extract: a splash of vanilla brings lovely flavor to the hot cocoa!

How to make the Oat Milk Hot Chocolate

  1. Mix all ingredients in a small pot and heat over medium heat. Whisk continuously until any lumps of cacao remain. 
  2. Heat up to desired temperature but do NOT boil the chocolate. 
  3. Once the chocolate reaches desired temperature pour into 2 mugs and top with your favorite vegan whipped cream, chocolate shaving, cacao powder or marshmallows.

  • 3 tbsp / 45 grams cacao powder
  • 2 tbsp / 30 ml maple syrup
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
