I started myself on a little quest to make a really good and creamy HEALTHY hot chocolate that I could sip on while I binge-watch all the Christmas movies. This healthy hot chocolate recipe only requires five simple ingredients:
- Oat milk: I like to use unsweetened oat milk or my homemade oat milk!
- Unsweetened cocoa powder: a high-quality unsweetened cocoa powder is essential.
- Maple syrup: I love how delicious the maple syrup tastes in this recipe, plus it’s a natural sweetener. Perfection!
- Vanilla extract: a splash of vanilla brings lovely flavor to the hot cocoa!
How to make the Oat Milk Hot Chocolate
- Mix all ingredients in a small pot and heat over medium heat. Whisk continuously until any lumps of cacao remain.
- Heat up to desired temperature but do NOT boil the chocolate.
- Once the chocolate reaches desired temperature pour into 2 mugs and top with your favorite vegan whipped cream, chocolate shaving, cacao powder or marshmallows.
